Time Capsule Buried in Coalville Park

Don Bailey

As part of the 125th year anniversary of Coalville Park, a time capsule was buried in Coalville Park on Monday 8th July. Leicestershire’s Lord Lieutenant Mr Michael Kapur and Deputy Chairman Councillor Ray Morris unveiled a plaque identifying the placement of the time capsule.

The capsule is set to be opened in 2074, in 50 years’ time, and includes objects and posters from local schools and community groups to remind people of the work that goes on in the local area.

Coalville Belvoir Rotary Club were proud to be asked if they wished to contribute to the time capsule, which were delighted to do so. We placed a flyer for and medal from our recently organised Community Fun Run at Snibston Colliery Park, and our current President Don Bailey was present at the unveiling ceremony. Sadly, we do not expect many of our members to be around upon the opening of the time capsule in 2074!

Please find some pictures of the event below.
