Supporting local schools and children with a Book Scheme

With a team of just three members initially, Coalville Belvoir Rotary Club set up a community scheme to collect unwanted books and distribute them to local schools.

Over several months we were able to collect over 1000 books which were given to 10 local schools (Broom Leys School, Warren Hills Community Primary School, Hugglescote Community Primary School, Whitwick St John The Baptist Church of England Primary School, Belvoirdale Community Primary School, Ibstock Junior School, Thringstone Primary School, Saint Clare's Primary School, Swannington Church of England Primary School, Griffydam Primary School)

We received great feedback from the teachers and pupils. The scheme allowed us to make good connections with the schools which we have maintained. On the back of this, we have offered to support the schools in other ways which has resulted in a number of projects.
