Now in its third year, we again had over 80 entrants and raised even more money than last year – in fact, we’re delighted to announce that each of our three chosen charities will receive £600 from this year’s event!
The ambitious idea of one of our members, Coalville Community Fun Run was started as a way to get the local community together while having fun and getting some exercise in the open air.
Feel free to like and add comments. You can jump to the event pics here or keep reading for all the details of the day.
This year we chose to raise money for three charities. The amount raised for each will be updated as soon as we calculate the final figures.

Bright Hope in North West Leicestershire offers a range of therapeutic and social care services in North West Leicestershire. The charity supports individuals who have a life limiting condition or one that leads to a significant reduction in quality of life, as well as offering support to their partner, carer or family.
Love4Life provide fantastic support to empower young people aged 11-18 to build confidence and make positive choices in their health, relationships and education. Set up in 2008, Love4Life has grown to work across multiple areas of deprivation in Leicestershire, Leicester and Derby, supporting hundreds of young people aged 11-18 years every year.
The Williams Syndrome Foundation supports people with Williams Syndrome & those who love, care for and educate them, promoting research and raising funds. The incidence of Williams Syndrome is approximately 1 in 18,000.
The Foundation offers funding for holidays for WS adults and families every year. The Foundation acts as support, information and advisory service and keeps members in touch through publications, events and a nationwide regional network. It also keeps a register of all known WS cases and provides access to professionals to promote research to improve the lives of the WS population.
The event, held at Snibston Colliery Park, was another tremendous success, with over 80 entrants, many running the 5k course while others took a more gentle jog or walk around either the 5k or the shorter 2k route.
With lots of help from our own volunteers, we were also greatly supported by the Rotary Clubs of Ashby de la Zouch Castle, Ashby de la Zouch Hastings, Bradgate, and Towcester, as well as Coalville and Ashby Lions, and many volunteers from our selected charities too.
We were grateful to receive fantastic sponsorship from several local companies including St. Mowden Homes, Ibstock Brick, Hermitage Dental Practice, MQP, NevilleCars2020 and PPLPRS.
We were also greatly assisted by the team from Leicestershire Country Parks, especially Cat and Buffy.

The warm up was led by Becky Bounce from onesixeight: fitness and she also took part in the event too.
At the finish line, everybody was presented with a medal and a goody bag, kindly provided by Everyone Active. Handing out the medals were club members and representatives from our charities.
Finally, a big thank you to Chris (Rotary Club of Ashby de la Zouch Castle) who was the MC throughout the event, providing a helpful commentary, supporting runners and speaking with representatives from our charities, helpers and participants.
