Coalville Community Fun Run 2023

The ambitious idea of one of our members, Coalville Community Fun Run was started as a way to get the local community together while having fun and getting some exercise in the open air.

After much planning and organising, the event, held at Snibston Colliery Park, was a tremendous success.

We had around 70 people take part in the event, with many running the 5k course while others took a more gentle jog or walk around either the 5k or the shorter 2k route.

With much help from our own volunteers, we were also greatly supported by Ashby Rotary Clubs, Coalville and Ashby Lions, and Hospice Hope's staff and volunteers too.

We were grateful to receive fantastic sponsorship from many local companies including Aggregate Industries, Crane and Walton, MQP, NevilleCars2020, Ibstock Brick, Motors Coalville, MP Training and PPLPRS. We were also greatly assisted by the team from Leicestershire Country Parks.

Here's all the pictures we got from the day - take a look to see if you can spot yourself or somebody you know.

Thanks to the generous donations from sponsors, entrants and others, we were able to support two fantastic local charities and we invited both along to our club to tell us more about their work.

Firstly, we welcomed Stewart, Jan and Roy from Hospice Hope. Stewart gave an interesting talk about the important work done by the charity and an update on their fantastic new building. We were able to donate £405 from your kind support of this year's Coalville Community Fun Run. Here's Stewart shaking hands with Sue, who first proposed and led the organisation of the Fun Run. Hospice Hope provide vital services to the local community and we look forward to working with them more in the future.

Secondly, we welcomed Katherine and Laura from Islastones Foundation who gave an emotional and informative talk about Isla and the important work done by the charity. We were again able to donate £405 from your kind support of this year's Coalville Community Fun Run. Here's Katherine, Laura and Sue showing some amazing examples of #islastones. The charity are very keen to keep Isla's memory alive by continuing to photo-post-rehide the decorated stones.

We will be back next year. Click here for the details and to get your tickets for Coalville Community Fun Run 2024
